Florida has won the National Championship! They beat Houston 65-63 in a dramatic game. This is Florida’s 3rd national title and their first since 2007.
The first half was 100% Houston. They were locked-in and playing aggressive basketball. Florida looked very out of sync with their passes and shots. But the second half was a different story, even though they were down 30-42 with 16 minutes left, they played energized, shut down Houston’s offense, and slowly cut down the lead.
One of the biggest stories in the game was Walter Clayton Jr.’s performance, he scored zero points in the first half, but in the second half, he delivered when it mattered the most. He put up 11 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds. He also made an important defensive play on Houston’s final possession to stop Emanuel Sharp’s game-winning shot.
This is Florida’s third national championship, putting them in the elite company of three time NCAA champions. They’ve really shown everyone how they are once again the powerhouse of college basketball.
The 2025 title game had everything, it had big plays, high tension moments, and an amazing comeback. Florida really showed confidence and heart into the game when it really mattered the most. Finally, congratulations to the Gators, your 2025 NCAA Champions!
